Jamie Lidell’s “You Naked” is a representative sample of his funky, electronic soul stylings
The video for Black Dave’s “Muthafuck! My Enemies” is an homage to Kids and Budweiser.
David Bowie and Tilda Swinton get weird in “The Stars (Are Out Tonight).”
The video for Tyler the Creator’s “Domo 23” is the best wrestling match I’ve ever seen.
The video for Tegan and Sara’s “Closer” came out in November, but the new album just came out. It’s good.
2012 Year in Review
These are my favorite music-type things from last year. What did I miss? (FYI, all the song titles are links, and there are a bunch of other links to notable tracks/videos in the text.)
Favorite Albums:
10. Oberhofer Time Capsules II
Don’t let Brad Oberhofer’s (literal) commercial success deter you. Dude makes some of the catchiest, poppiest indie rock around, and he puts on a great show.
09. Grizzly Bear Shields
Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks” was stuck in your head for most of 2009, but the rest of their debut was a little raw. This year’s Shields avoids any sophomore slump and proves that the band was worth the hype.
It’s OK, San Francisco. Foxygen’s lead singer took time off from his very convincing Mick Jagger impression to write you this song.
My 2012 year in review is typically late, but at least music videos for tracks from last year are still trickling out. The last third of Tame Impala’s video for “Mind Mischief” is NSFW, and it pairs perfectly with the dreamy quality of the track.
Divine Fits are an indie rock super group, and they are awesome. Here’s their “My Love Is Real.”

G-Eazy’s “Loaded” is important.
